Housing Resource Fair to Be Held in Brick on November 13; People Affected by Superstorm Sandy Encouraged to Attend

Trenton, NJ – The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) today announced a free Housing Resource Fair will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018, in Brick Township, Ocean County, to provide people with information about housing counseling, utility assistance, housing search help, foreclosure prevention, and other services. Anyone who was affected by Superstorm Sandy is welcome and encouraged to attend.

The Housing Resource Fair, which is being presented by the Affordable Housing Alliance, will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brick Branch Library, 301 Chambersbridge Road, Brick, NJ, 08723.

“Whether people need help searching for an affordable apartment or recovering from Sandy, there will be knowledgeable staff at the resource fair to answer questions and provide guidance,” said Lt. Governor Sheila Y. Oliver, DCA Commissioner. “People can also use the resource fair to get information about food and utility assistance, health insurance, affordable home loans, and how to manage housing costs. We hope families take advantage of this terrific opportunity to access resources.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with HUD-certified housing counselors for a wide array of housing-related issues, including budgeting, rental guidance, mortgages, and foreclosure prevention.

"We believe in hope, strength and community, and do our best to live out those priorities daily in serving those who come to us for guidance,” said Christina Tello, assistant director of housing outreach for the Affordable Housing Alliance, which works with DCA as a Sandy Recovery Housing Counseling Agency. “We have housing counselors with years of experience who can help strategize to achieve housing and other financial goals. We aim to equip others to make the best choices with the options available to them, and we love what we do."

Aside from DCA and the Affordable Housing Alliance, the following organizations have committed to date to participate:

  • Community Affairs and Resource Center (CARC)
  • Saint Bernard Project
  • Legal Services of New Jersey Hurricane Sandy Legal Assistance Project
  • Fulfill NJ
  • Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Community Health Center
  • Wells Fargo
  • South Jersey Legal Services
