Morristown, NJ – New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) staff today joined local officials and representatives of Homeless Solutions Inc. to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Abbett Lincoln Supportive Housing, a new home for homeless residents in Morris County.

The home will provide affordable permanent supportive housing for two homeless families later this summer. Each floor is a separate two-bedroom apartment with living and dining rooms, kitchen, laundry room, and a full bathroom. The home also has front and back porches.

“Abbett Lincoln Supportive Housing provides a stable, independent home for residents,” said NJHMFA Executive Director Charles A. Richman. “This development is a strong example of how local, state, and nonprofit enterprises working together can create quality, affordable supportive housing for those needing it most.”

NJHMFA, an affiliate of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, awarded financing for the development from its Special Needs Housing Trust Fund, which provides capital to create permanent supportive housing and community residences for homeless individuals or families. Since it began in 2005, the fund has financed 214 developments, which provide 1,775 housing units for more than 1,940 individuals. Abbett Lincoln Supportive Housing also received Morris County HOME Funds, which help communities in the county build, acquire, and/or rehabilitate affordable housing units for rental or homeownership.

Homeless Solutions Inc. (HSI) will provide social services focused on helping the home’s residents live independently. The ongoing services will address not only daily living needs, but the specific and special needs that residents of the home have. These services will include onsite case management and assistance to mainstream resources, as well as access to health care.

HSI is a private, nonprofit organization with 35 years of experience meeting the needs of those affected by homelessness in Morris County. HSI’s mission is to offer shelter, services, and supportive housing to homeless and low-income people. For more information visit www.HomelessSolutions.org.
